A Very Valuable Dollar

When is a dollar more than just a dollar?

It just looks like a regular ol' ordinary dollar doesn't it? So how could this particular dollar be worth more to me than any other dollar?
Today was one of those days where I had a ton of things to get done and a baby who demanded most of my attention, on top of all the stuff at home that needed to be done today was my meals on wheels day. When I realized it was my Tuesday for meals part of me thought "oh great one more thing" but I truly do enjoy doing it and it's normally one of the high spots of my month. At 11:00 Linc and I headed to the Senior Center in our town to grab our meals to deliver. We got there a little early so we went in to visit. All the people waiting for lunch to be served love Linc and you can tell he loves the attention. He got his loves from everyone we waved our goodbyes and headed out on our route. Our route started out completely normal, I made my normal small talk with all those I delivered to. On one of my last houses I rang the doorbell cracked the door and peaked my head in with a "knock knock" (I don't know why I always say knock knock but I don't go in unless I do) I walked in with the meals and sat them on the table the way I always do. The little old man got up slowly walked around the table and said "I want to give you something for your trouble, you need a tip". Of course I told him no I couldn't take a tip from him and that I just do Meals On Wheels because I enjoy doing it. But he insisted and pulled out his wallet and handed me a dollar. He proceeded to thank me several times and told me how much he and his wife appreciate that I get out, load the baby up twice a month and bring them their meals. Before I left he hugged me and said "God bless you for all you do". I thanked him and wished him a good afternoon dollar in hand. That dollar means so much more to me than just a dollar. When I look at that dollar I see how my 1 hour route twice a month takes so little of my time but means so much to those that I deliver to. When my older 2 boys are out of school for the summer they enjoy going with me and everyone on my route enjoys seeing them carry their meals up their sidewalks. If you can spare some time each month I encourage you to contact you local meals on wheels program and see if they need help. If you don't have the time I'm sure there are other ways you can help. I know most of the senior centers have activities for the seniors in the towns I'm sure they would gladly accept donations of almost any kind.

Well here goes nothing

Here goes nothing

Well I said I wanted to be a blogger so I guess now is as good of a time as ever. My name is Tisha not Trisha though I do answer to Trisha if someone calls me that, it's happened my whole life so I've just learned to deal with it. I grew up in a very small town in Eastern Nebraska called Verdon. Ever heard of it? I didn't think so. I know a lot of people don't get the small town life but it gave me an amazing childhood and is giving me a great place to raise my kids. We now live in a small town in missouri and to keep my boys safe it is going to remain nameless. My husband (whom I've been told to refer to as Big Daddy Kev)and I have been together since I was 18 (I'm now 32) we have 3 amazing boys Max 10 QJ (Short of Quentin) 5 and Linc (short for Lincoln) 10 months. I have been very blessed to be able to spend most of my time at home with my boys, the other part of my time is spent as a preschool teacher. I teach at a small private preschool 3 days a week 3 hours a day with 9 amazing kiddos. Next year however we are switching to 3 days a  week all day long and have gotten 18 kids enrolled already, I'm sure that will end up with loads of inspiration for my blog.

So what is the point of this blog? I really have no idea, it sounded fun so I thought why  not give it a shot. I have so many interests that I couldn't say "oh this will be a cooking blog" or "this will be a crafting blog". I love doing both of those things but didn't think I would want to limit myself on here by giving it a theme. There will be cooking and there will be crafting however so don't you worry about that. This blog will be a blog about my life, I love to cook, I love to craft, I love to paint and I love to try new things. I'm sure this will end up being a lot of me just rambling on and on and on. I'm also a breast feeding, cloth diapering, baby wearing, and homemade baby food making mom. I'm sure that will all be covered on here too. Now please let me point out I am no expert in any of this it's just stuff I like to do so please don't think that I am in anyway shape or form an expert. I do what works for me and my family and it may not work for yours.

With all that said... here goes nothing

Dear God I hope I don't suck at this :-)
